On September 24, 2000, Kevin Hines jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge in a suicide attempt. He survived, and this is his inspiring story.

At the time, his parents were going through a divorce and he thought he was the only one struggling with severe Bipolar disorder. He thought he was a burden to his family. After surviving his suicide attempt, he now understands none of that was true.

The morning of his suicide attempt, at 6am, he woke his father up to tell him he loved him. Kevin almost told his father what he was feeling and thinking, but decided not to because he thought he needed to die. He took a bus to the bridge and along the way he was crying his eyes out, wanting to scream and ask for help but again, he didn't. People were staring at him crying and he desperately wanted someone to ask him if he was okay but nobody did. Police officers searching for suicidal people passed by him twice while he was leaning over the rails.

The moment he jumped, he instantly regretted it and knew he made the biggest mistake of his life.
